about

ABOUT THIS & ME

I’m Teo, a Spanish/Swedish guitarist and producer that fell in love with punk & hardcore music in the 90s. I’ve been playing, recording and producing ever since I can remember and will keep on doing so until I’m unable.

One summer day I felt like recording something, something fun and fulfilling, like a cover of an all time favourite song. Too many came to mind so I had to decide somehow, and I saw a common denominator: most of them were Swedish bands. Being half Swedish it kind of made sense. Listening to those songs I recalled the good old 90s and how I put down roots in punk rock, and so Swecore began.

At first it was just a little personal project, I would do everything, a complete DIY. Once all instrumental parts were recorded it was time for vocals. But I’m not very fond of my voice and the only song I thought was tolerable was Nine Digit, so I took the advice of my good friend Sebas and asked for help. And I got it, from all around the world.

Vocalists from The Decline, One Hidden Frame, Hack the Mainframe (at that time Heath was their lead singer), Melting Fast (this was an easy one: I’m in the band), Fast Food Society, Straightline, Day Oof and The Stifled gladly came onboard and made the project grow in a way I could have never anticipated. It all fell in place when at a Venerea show I spoke with Mike about how I was making a tribute to bands like them, and he said he wanted to be on there singing too. The honoree became an honorer!

Music is an inseparable part of my life; it’s always been there for me both in good and bad times. My intention with Rötter (“Roots” in Swedish) is to express my gratitude for what it means to me and honour the great bands that have given my life a soundtrack. Rötter is just the first Swecore project, I have several more in mind, so stay tuned!

I could have never anticipated that this would become such an enriching experience. It’s been amazing to share this project with great people from different countries and make it come true. I am Swecore, and so are you.

Tack så mycket!
